This handcrafted bowl was turned from a piece of Ash. I charred the outside surface to create a layer of charcoal that protects the wood from the elements this is known as Shou sugi ban or yakisugi, it is a traditional Japanese method of preserving wood by fire which dates back centuries.

It is then finished with a food safe blend of natural oils and waxes.

The bowl is 9” W x 2.75”H.
